You may not yet know what “Mukonoso” has to offer. That is as it should be. Mukonoso is a town full of charm and easy living that even the Japanese consider to be a hidden gem, known only to the connoisseurs. In fact, Mukonoso Station was ranked fourth in the “SUUMO Town Ranking 2020 Kansai Edition: Town (Station) Ranking as a good unknown place” announced by Recruit Sumai Company, the operator of Japan’s leading real estate information website “SUUMO”1.

Let’s take a look at each of the 3 points that make Mukonoso an easy place to live.

    1. Easy access to central city

The area along the Hankyu Kobe Line, where “Mukonoso” is located, is one of the most popular areas in Kansai to live2. The Hankyu Kobe Line is one of the main lines connecting “Osaka Umeda” and “Kobe Sannomiya”, the center of the Kansai region. It is located next to “Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi” Station, which is regularly ranked as one of the best places to live in Kansai3.

Mukonoso Station is a stop for commuter express and local trains on the Hankyu Kobe Line. It takes about 14 minutes to Osaka Umeda Station, about 29 minutes to Kobe Sannomiya Station by local train, and about 18 minutes if you transfer to the limited express at the next station, Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi. The Imazu Line is also available from the next station, Nishinomiya-Kitaguchi Station, providing good access to the Takarazuka area. With quick access to the center of the Kansai region, this station is popular for both commuting and leisure activities.

As you know, most trains in Japan really do come on time. We hope you will experience it too. The unique “maroon color” of Hankyu trains has many fans.

In FY2023, the average number of passengers for the entire year was 45,114, making it the No. 1 station for limited express trains to pass through. on the Hankyu Railway line4. This shows that it is a popular place to live as well.

The extensive transportation network is not limited to trains. Bus routes are also well-developed5. It is easy to go out to city hall, hospitals, parks, and other places for a short trip. It is also easy to get on the expressway by car.

There is a plaza with a fountain in front of the south exit of Mukonoso Station. It is a pleasant place where parks and greenery blend into the city.

    2. No wonder it is popular among families.

Mukonoso Station is very nicely maintained, and people can be seen taking a break to read or have a cup of coffee in the plazas in front of each of the north and south stations. This photo shows the rotary in front of the north exit station where the property is located.

Mukonoso is home to supermarkets and stores of various sizes such as “Hankyu Oasis”, “Super Maruhachi”, “KOHYO”, “Gyoumu Super”, and “Fresco”, as well as many traditional stores and private stores, so there is no need to worry about everyday shopping.

While there are stores selling daily necessities at affordable prices, there are also shopping facilities where high-end or ethnic foods are available, which should please families, couples, single people, and even foreigners visiting Japan.

The north and south sides of the station are connected by an underpass. People pushing bicycles, women, and children also come and go. The city’s safety is another attraction of this area.

Having a supermarket, convenience store, 100 yen store, pharmacy, bank, hospital, and delicious delicatessen all in one compact location is a blessing on a busy day. In addition, there is a wide variety of delicious restaurants, so it will be fun to stop by on your way home from work or on your days off.

Japanese convenience stores, popular for their amazing convenience in terms of easy and reasonably priced food, tasty sweets, and daily necessities, are also located in front of the station.

    3. Modernist streetscape that won a award for its beautiful townscape

Mukonoso has been commended by Japanese government agencies for its beautiful townscape6. It has a history of being developed by Hankyu Corporation as a suburban rural residential area, and is a residential area that retains traces of Hanshin modernism. The peaceful landscape, especially free of pachinko parlors and other facilities, is popular among residents, and is the result of the town’s efforts to preserve the townscape by promulgating building ordinances7.

Cherry blossom trees line the station grounds and along the railroad tracks. It is also characterized by many waterways.
While enjoying the view of the path along the waterway and the willow trees, you will arrive at the property owned by SUGEE Housing. (Property: gray building at the back of the photo)

“Counting bridges ( 数え橋 )” are an important landscape element that characterizes this town. The bridges, named from “first bridge ( 一の橋 )” to “seventeen bridges ( 十七橋 )”, cross the waterway along the road going north from the Mukonoso 3-chome intersection.

There is also a bridge by the property owned by SUGEE Housing. Try to count what the name of the bridge is.

The topography of this town, with its waterways, was utilized to develop housing lots with a view of Mt Rokko. The bridge was named as a landmark for visitors to the area and is still loved by local residents.
